Learn Astrology – Planetary Rulers

In our previous lesson, we learned the glyph symbols for the planets in astrology:

Planetary Rulers of the Zodiac Signs & Houses

Now that you have learned the glyph symbols for the planets, it’s time to learn what they rule over. Each of the astrological house/sign relationships (i.e. 9th house/Sagittarius; 12th house/Pisces; etc.) is naturally ruled by a certain planet (yellow/red/pink below), which is referred to as it’s planetary ruler. So, in other words, Mars is the planetary ruler of Aries and also the natural planetary ruler of the first house. You can see the planetary ruler relationships in the graphic below:

Note that, in astrology, there are 12 house/sign relationships, yet only 10 “planets” (as of the time of this writing), so there are two planets (the red and pink ones above) which rule more than one house/sign. So, in other words, Venus (red) and Mercury (pink) each rule 2 house/sign relationships. Let’s look closer at Venus.
